Along with all of the LGBQT+, it also has specialized transgender help. I found this pamphlet called “The Transgender Student’s Guide to RIT” Inside it talks about the usual where you can get support and support groups etc. But they also talk about gender-neutral housing options which surprised me since I never heard of such a thing. They also talked about how every building is required to have a unisex bathroom, and it even gives a link that you can follow to find all the unisex bathrooms on the RIT campus! I coolest thing was in the “Name Changes” section. It said “If your name has not been legally changed: There are a number of ways to ‘unofficially’ change your listed name in various RIT applications.” That is awesome. The pamphlet even put “unofficially” in quotes because RIT understands that to you, it is official, legal or not. It just needs to put unofficial for legal reasons. It then lists 2 or 3 ways to have your name changed. You can have a personalized school email alias and it even gives you a phone number to call to have your name changed on every class list with no questions asked. I may not be transgendered, but I thought that was really cool and that it’s a great step in the right direction. 10 notes
